Born in Nagoya, Japan, she climbed to fame as the character Junko Miharayama in the Be-Bop High School movies, based on the manga series by Kazuhiro Kiuchi originally published in Young Magazine. She started with Be-Bop High School (1985) when she was just 17-years old, then progressed through Be-Bop High School: Koko Votaro Aika (1986), Be-Bop High School: Koko Yotaro Koshin-kyoku (1987), Be-Bop High School: Koko Yotaro Kyoso-kyoku (1987), Be-Bop High School: Koko Yotaro Ondo (1988), and Be-Bop High School: Koko Votar Kanketsu-hen (1988), ending when she was aged 20. During that time, she was also selected as a Clarion girl—a noted gig in Japan where a chick is selected each year to promote the car audio brand. Photogenic and willing to share her lean and lovely figure, she appeared in the Japanese version of Playboy magazine, and published two books of nude photos of herself, XXX and XX-Holy Body. Masumi got naked in moving pictures, too, showing off her small breasts and thick nipples as Teruko Akiduki in A Watcher in the Attic (1993) and as the woman in Beautiful Weapon (1993), where she’s a vocal participant in some sexual lovin’ and dazzling underwater. She retired from acting after 1995, living a quiet life as a wife and mom. But in 2005, she returned for one final film role, as Mitsuko Ozawa / Sayuri / Taeko in the drama, horror, mystery film Strange Circus.
